Especially since I heard that Nintendo may not make more games in the series if this entry didn’t sell well, I had to show my support, and so should you if you like these kinds of games. Even if you’ve already played the original N64 game, the 3DS remake is not only great nostalgic fun, but one of the more enjoyable 3DS games out right now. Unfortunately, there’s no online play, which is a real shame since the previous Star Fox game for the DS had online play.Įven though I own the Wii Virtual Console version, I still picked up and enjoyed Star Fox 64 3D. They can easily do it, but with only a handful of games that used it, they probably wont dedicate the time to that until they want to release Star Fox for VC, probably as a promotion for the next big SF game (like they did with Super Metroid). Last month we missed out on getting a Nintendo 64 game, but this month we are starting off with one. The game does however have the traditonal button control scheme, which I prefer. Also, the addition of a Score Attack mode, which allows you to replay any stage without having to play through the singleplayer mode, adds even more replay value. Multiplayer has been redone from scratch, with brand new powerups to take on the competition. Three new titles are coming out for the Wii virtual console later today. It works well, but the problem is using it with the 3D effect on unless you can tilt your head along with the 3DS. One of the new additions is the use of the gyroscope to control your ship. Also the voices retain the same cheese from 1997, even more so with some (but not all) of the original voice cast on board. Some tracks sound well-done (Personal favorites being Katina, Boss Theme C, Zoness, and Aquas) whereas some tracks sound odd to me (Examples: Boss Themes A and B). The Star Fox series have always had a great soundtrack, but for some reason, this redone soundtrack is a hit-or-miss. Unlike The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, Nintendo went out of the way to redo the soundtrack for Star Fox 64 3D. Combined with the spectacular 3D effect makes this one of the better looking 3DS games right now. ![]() Every single thing you can think of in this game looks better than ever. Between the N64 game and the 3DS remake, there is absolutely no comparison. To start off, the visuals have recieved a massive overhaul. Star Fox 2 was a great game and I'm glad it didn't just get discontinue and playing this game actually proved that. (and the voice acting is great.First of all, let me say that I am a big fan of the Star Fox series and I pretty much did not think twice about buying the 3DS remake of Star Fox 64 even though I own it on my Wii’s Virtual Console. If I'm too young to remember, this game took all the concepts from the cancelled Super NES Star Fox 2 game and upgrade it to 64-Bit which later become this game. maybe not, I'm not sure, but it's far ahead in front quality-wise in the Star Fox series, that's for sure. It's by far the best game in the series, and maybe even more fun than all of the others combined. enough good things can't be said about it. yeah, that's not good.Įven so, this'll definitely be a must-own game for people who don't have it for N64, because Star Fox 64 is the best into-the-screen scrolling shooter that I've ever played. ![]() They just aren't good enough.)Īnd yes, teh controller issue DOES impact this game, even beyond the rumble issue. the GC and CC controllers can't properly play N64 games. maybe people who disliked the N64 controller don't mind, even though it's the only controller ideal for games designed for it, but I thought it was great. ![]() (Sorry, but no four-face-button, handleless, GC-style-analog-stick using, triggerless controller will ever come even close to being able to do a good job of being the N64 controller. At this rate, they'll finish the N64 emulator a few days after they release a controller for the Wii or GC (for VC) that actually does a decent job of being an N64 controller. will Nintendo ever finish their VC N64 emulator? ![]() No savestates, no rumble, no controller pak.
